![]() 1108 N 16th St, Bismarck, ND 58501 That is right the Med school marathon continues. Beth started her clinical rotations this past Wednesday in Bismarck. So to make it possible we packed all of our earthly belongings the end of the week before (which was complicated by my being on the road for work 8 of the 12 days proceeding the move) and shoved them into a 24' Budget rental truck. With the truck packed and the Fit in tow we pulled out of Grand Forks, ND around 9:00 pm Friday night and with the trucks pedal floored at 70mph arrived in Bismarck around 2:00am and immediately crashed on air mattresses with my parents, brother and his wife at our new house which we had never seen before. Luckily it turned out to be very nice with tons of flower gardens… not sure what to do with those… although they look nice so far. The next day we emptied the truck and got things somewhat set up and livable. Then after checking the box next to "Operation Move" Completed we returned the truck Monday morning and hit the road toward Montana around 1pm. Next stop was in the Beartooths and then on to Bozeman for Trevor’s and Liz’s wedding in Big Sky. The wedding went great and I will post pictures of these adventures as soon as I get to spend some time at home and pull together the pictures. I am currently living in a friend’s spare bedroom in Grafton, ND during the week for work and have only spent three total nights at the new house. Life on the road… What an adventure. Hope everyone has a great 4th. 2 Comments Med School 05/22/2009
![]() Life is good here in ND. Beth had her 8th and final round of block tests for medical school earlier this week. The grades are in and she passed with flying colors. So we get to pass START again and collect another $200. Or pay another 40k is more like it but no pain no gain right. Now ist off to a couple years of clinicals in Bizmarck and Minot, ND and then Residency in who knows where. So cheers to my wife Beth and for that matter Amanda who is getting ready to start her residency in Salt Lake and even managed to drag Josh (kicking and screaming) along with her. CONGRATULATIONS.... and CHEERS to no lectures or homework. Now we are off for a much needed relaxing trip filled wiht biking and climbing in South Dakota before beth dives into studying for boards. So stay posted. Tick Talk 05/09/2009
With all the tick talk lately we accidently did a little google image search for ticks and thought we better share the disturbng results.. so that we wouldn't have to carry the full burden ourselves :) Enjoy And be ready for lots of babies. We did find one raisen sized one on the floor last year. Thanks goodness we got it outside quickly. First Ride... Spring Finally Arrived 05/06/2009
![]() It seems to have warmed up and we managed to fit a couple hour ride into Beth's studying. Since the trails along the river are still under water we headed fifteen minutes out of town to Turtle River State Park, the home of the only (although short) sections of single track trail in eastern North Dakota. The weather was great and the trails mostly dry. It was so nice the dogs swam about a dozen times and the ticks were even begining to come out to play. So a afternoon ride expanded into a combined ride...hair cut...dog bathing party. As You can probably tell the hair cuts still need a little work, but it was getting late. There will be a round two with the clippers for sure. We even got a picture of one of the first couple dozen little guys of the year for you. Cute aren't they. Well its been an interesting spring here. The red river valley experienced its second 100 year flood inside of 10 years and as of this writing the river here in Grand Forks has been above flood stage for well over a month now. The adventures are never ending, from route finding when major interstates and county roads alternate going under water, to aborted attempts to reach friends houses by kayak (the ice was to thick) and huge sand bagging efforts it was truly an experience. Other than our (mostly Beth's) sandbagging efforts in Grand Forks we are sitting behind a brand new dike system constructed over the last decade as a result of the devestating 1997 flooding and stayed quite comfortable. As you can see from the pictures we were most impacted by our xc skiing and biking trails going under water. The greenway just opened again this past weekend, however much of the trail system remains submerged so we continue to wait. Roo's was even dishartened to find that the beloved dog park remains under. However despite the sand traps being full of water the golf corse did open today. Lucky us... We have been amazed by the clear signs of the rivers power. Trees are all banded with stripes of missing bark, street signs are bent flat, and trees were snapped off everywhere. Well I beter get back to the job apps, but enjoy the pics. There are many more in our picasa album. Take care unitl next time. |
